Jọn  18 : 1 - 40

18 After he said these things, Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidʹron Valley to where there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.

18 Jesu ghi ta ẹmwẹ na hia nẹ, irẹn vbe erhuanegbe ẹre keghi fian Iya e Kidrọn gberra gha rrie eke ọkpa ne ogba ọkpa ghaa ye, iran na la uwu ogba nii.

2 Now Judas, his betrayer, also knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples.

2 E Judas nọ khian yae dẹ vbe rẹn evba nii, rhunmwuda, Jesu vbe erhuanegbe ẹre wa mobọ gha yo evba.

3 So Judas brought the detachment of soldiers and officers of the chief priests and of the Pharisees and came there with torches and lamps and weapons.

3 Rhunmwuda ọni, e Judas keghi viọ ivbiyokuo eso gha dee, kevbe avbe ọgbalegbe ne avbe ọkaolotu ohẹn kevbe avbe Farisi gie lelẹe, iran na gha die evba nii; iran na viọ ukpa kevbe emwi igbinna mwẹ obọ.

4 Then Jesus, knowing all the things that were going to happen to him, stepped forward and said to them: “Whom are you looking for?”

5 They answered him: “Jesus the Naz·a·reneʹ.” He said to them: “I am he.” Now Judas, his betrayer, was also standing with them.

6 However, when Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

6 Sokpan, vbe Jesu ghi tama iran wẹẹ, “Mẹ nọ,” iran na sikẹ iyeke, iran na dele gbe otọ.

7 So he asked them again: “Whom are you looking for?” They said: “Jesus the Naz·a·reneʹ.”

8 Jesus answered: “I told you that I am he. So if you are looking for me, let these men go.”

8 Jesu na wanniẹn wẹẹ: “I ka tama uwa nẹ ban wẹẹ imẹ nọ. Adeghẹ imẹ ẹre uwa gualọ, wa gi iran na kpa.”

9 This was to fulfill what he had said: “Of those whom you have given me, I have not lost a single one.”

9 Te ọna sunu, ne ẹmwẹ nọ ka ta mieke na sẹ, nọ na wẹẹ: “Vbe uwu iran hia ne u viọ mẹ, ọkpa i rrọọ nọ wiri vbọ.”

10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the slave of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. The name of the slave was Malchus.

10 Vbe ẹghẹ na kha na, umozo ghaa gue Saimọn Pita. Ọ na wa yuo ẹre ladian, ọ na fian ehọ nọ rre obọ erha ọmwa ọghe ọviẹn ọghe ogie ohẹn fua. Eni ọviẹn nii ọre Malkọs.

11 Jesus, however, said to Peter: “Put the sword into its sheath. Should I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?”

12 Then the soldiers and the military commander and the officers of the Jews seized Jesus and bound him.

12 Ẹre ivbiyokuo nii kevbe ọkaokuo, kẹ kevbe avbe ọgbalegbe ne Ivbi e Ju gie rre na mu e Jesu, iran na gbae.

13 They led him first to Anʹnas, for he was the father-in-law of Caʹia·phas, who was high priest that year.

13 Iran na ka rhie ẹre gha rrie ọghe Anas, nọ ghaa re erha ọvbokhan e Keyafas; e Keyafas na, ẹre ọ ghaa re ogie ohẹn vbe ukpo nii.

14 Caʹia·phas was, in fact, the one who had advised the Jews that it was to their benefit for one man to die in behalf of the people.

14 Uhiẹn, e Keyafas na ẹre ọ ka tama Ivbi e Ju wẹẹ, orhunmwu ọkpa wu ne ẹvbo ohoho ẹre ọ khian fu iran egbe sẹ.

15 Now Simon Peter, as well as another disciple, was following Jesus. That disciple was known to the high priest, and he went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest,

15 Na kha na, Saimọn Pita kevbe ọrhuanegbe ọvbehe kegha lele Jesu khian. Ogie ohẹn rẹn ọrhuanegbe nii, rhunmwuda ọni, ọ na sẹtin lele Jesu la otọ ẹghodo ọghe ogie ohẹn,

16 but Peter was standing outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper and brought Peter in.

16 sokpan, e Pita keghi mudia ye onurho vbe orere.

17 The servant girl who was the doorkeeper then said to Peter: “You are not also one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said: “I am not.”

17 Ọvbokhan okhuo nọ re ukọ onurho vbe evba, na ghi nọ e Pita wẹẹ: “Ẹ i re ọkpa vbe erhuanegbe okpia na ẹre uwẹ vbe khin?” E Pita na wẹẹ: “I i re ọre oo.”

18 Now the slaves and the officers were standing around a charcoal fire they had made, because it was cold and they were warming themselves. Peter also was standing with them and warming himself.

19 So the chief priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching.

19 Ọkaolotu ohẹn kegha zọlọ e Jesu ọta vbekpa erhuanegbe ẹre kevbe emwi nọ ma emwa ẹre.

20 Jesus answered him: “I have spoken to the world publicly. I always taught in a synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews come together, and I said nothing in secret.

Emwi rhọkpa i rrọọ ne I tae vbe ẹkhokho.

21 Why do you question me? Question those who have heard what I told them. See! These know what I said.”

21 Vbua ghi nọ mwẹ ọta ba? Nọ iran ni danmwehọ mwẹ nian. Iran rre emwa, iran gha tama ruẹ emwi ne I ma emwa ẹre.”

22 After he said these things, one of the officers who was standing by gave Jesus a slap in the face and said: “Is that the way you answer the chief priest?”

22 Ọ ghi ta ẹmwẹ na hia nẹ, ọkpa vbe ọgbalegbe ni mudia vba keghi gbe ubi ye Jesu aro, ọ na wẹẹ: “Ọkaolotu ohẹn ẹre uwẹ gu guan vberriọ?”

23 Jesus answered him: “If I said something wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said was right, why do you hit me?”

23 Jesu na wanniẹn ọnrẹn wẹẹ: “Adeghẹ ẹmwẹ dan ẹre I tae, u ghi tae nian; sokpan, deghẹ ẹmwata ẹre I tae, vbọzẹ ne u na fi mwẹ emwi?”

24 Then Anʹnas sent him away bound to Caʹia·phas the high priest.

24 Ẹre Anas na we na rhie ẹre bu e Keyafas ne ogie ohẹn; te a wa ye gbae vbe ẹghẹ na kha na.

25 Now Simon Peter was standing there warming himself. Then they said to him: “You are not also one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said: “I am not.”

Ọ keghi siẹn, ọ na wẹẹ: “I i re ọre oo.”

26 One of the slaves of the high priest, who was a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, said: “I saw you in the garden with him, did I not?”

26 Ọkpa vbe eviẹn ọghe ogie ohẹn, nọ ghaa re ọtiẹn okpia ne Pita fian ẹre ehọ fua keghi nọ e Pita wẹẹ: “Ẹ i re uwẹ ẹre imẹ miẹn, nọ mudia kẹ vbe uwu ogba nii ra?”

27 However, Peter denied it again, and immediately a rooster crowed.

27 Sokpan, e Pita na vbe werriegbe siẹn ọnrẹn; vbe ọwara ọkpa nii, ọkpa keghi viẹ.

28 Then they led Jesus from Caʹia·phas to the governor’s residence. It was now early in the morning. But they themselves did not enter into the governor’s residence, so that they would not get defiled but could eat the Passover.

28 Iran na ghi rhie Jesu kpa hin ọghe Keyafas rre, iran na rhie ẹre gha rrie ọghe gọvinọ. Vbe ẹghẹ na kha na, owiẹ fioro ghi nọ; sokpan, iran tobọ iran ma la owa e gọvinọ nii, ne iran ghẹ ya khian enọ ma huan, ne iran mieke na sẹtin rri evbare Alagberra.

29 So Pilate came outside to them and said: “What accusation do you bring against this man?”

29 E Pailet na ghi ladian bu iran gha dee, ọ na nọ iran wẹẹ: “De ẹzọ ne uwa gu okpia na gui yi?”

30 They answered him: “If this man were not a wrongdoer, we would not have handed him over to you.”

31 So Pilate said to them: “Take him yourselves and judge him according to your law.” The Jews said to him: “It is not lawful for us to kill anyone.”

31 E Pailet na ghi tama iran wẹẹ: “Wa muẹn, ne uwa ya tobọ uwa bu ohiẹn ọnrẹn zẹvbe nọ gua uhi ọghe uwa ro.” Ẹre Ivbi e Ju na tama rẹn wẹẹ: “A ma rhie asẹ ne ima, ne ima ya gbe ọmwa rhọkpa rua.”

32 This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to indicate what sort of death he was about to die.

33 So Pilate entered the governor’s residence again and called Jesus and said to him: “Are you the King of the Jews?”

33 E Pailet ne gọvinọ na werriegbe la owa, ọ na tie Jesu, ọ na nọ rẹn wẹẹ: “Wẹ ọre Ọba ọghe Ivbi e Ju ra?”

34 Jesus answered: “Are you asking this of your own originality, or did others tell you about me?”

34 Jesu na wanniẹn wẹẹ: “Ẹwaẹn obọ ruẹ, ẹre uwẹ ya nọ mwẹ ọta na ra, ra te iran ta ẹmwẹ mwẹ ma ruẹ?”

35 Pilate replied: “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What did you do?”

Vbua ru?”

36 Jesus answered: “My Kingdom is no part of this world. If my Kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my Kingdom is not from this source.”

Sokpan, ọ vẹ na rẹn wẹẹ, Arriọba mwẹ i re ọghe ediran.”

37 So Pilate said to him: “Well, then, are you a king?” Jesus answered: “You yourself are saying that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is on the side of the truth listens to my voice.”

37 Ẹre Pailet na ghi nọ rẹn wẹẹ: “Te uwẹ ghi ya ọna kha wẹẹ, ọba ẹre uwẹ khin ra?” Jesu na wanniẹn wẹẹ: “Wẹ tobọ ruẹ ẹre ọ tae na wẹẹ ọba ẹre I khin. Emwi nọ si ẹre na na biẹ mwẹ, nọ vbe ya mwẹ gha die agbọn na, ọre ne I do sẹ osẹ ye ẹmwata. Ọmwaikọmwa nọ ghi rre obọ ọghe ẹmwata nẹ gha danmwehọ mwẹ.”

38 Pilate said to him: “What is truth?” After saying this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them: “I find no fault in him.

38 E Pailet na nọ rẹn wẹẹ: “Vbọ re ẹmwata?” Vbe ọ ghi nọ rẹn ọta na nẹ, ọ na werriegbe ladian bu Ivbi e Ju, ọ na tama iran wẹẹ: “I ma miẹn emwi dan rhọkpa ne okpia na ru.

39 Moreover, you have a custom that I should release a man to you at the Passover. So do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

39 Levba sevba, wa rẹnrẹn wẹẹ, ẹghẹ ke ẹghẹ ne uwa ya do ugie Alagberra, ẹre I ya fan orhunmwu ọkpa ne uwa. Wa hoo ne I fan Ọba ọghe Ivbi e Ju ne uwa ra?”

40 Again they shouted: “Not this man, but Bar·abʹbas!” Now Bar·abʹbas was a robber.
